What is an Arm Lift?
An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a procedure that removes the excess skin and fat from the upper arm. Most Texas arm lift patients have lost weight, and now their arms are looser. There are some patients, though, who are not overweight, but have flabby upper arms that many of them refer to as "bat wings." Upper body exercises will increase muscle tone, but unfortunately don't tighten up the skin.
With an arm lift in Spring, however, you can gain that seemingly elusive, toned look. Dr. Joseph M. Perlman invites you to schedule an appointment with Advanced Plastic Surgery Centre, so you can learn more about the procedure. Arm lifts have benefitted men and women throughout our community, including patients hailing from Spring, The Woodlands and Houston.
Because every patient is different, your Spring arm lift will be personalized based on your main problem areas. Dr. Perlman has extensive experience working with thousands of men and women in and round Houston, and he always keeps in mind that each surgery is special. Whether you are from Spring or The Woodlands — or a neighboring community — you can rest assured that the staff at Advanced Plastic Surgery Centre will treat your arm lift with the utmost consideration.
What is the Process for an Arm Lift in Spring?
The procedure involves liposuctioning the back of the arm and removing skin from the inner aspect. In most Spring arm lift patients, Dr. Perlman tries to leave as short a scar as possible, limiting it to the upper half of the upper arm and extending into the axilla or armpit area. In some patients, though, the amount of excess skin is such that the incision has to extend down to the elbow.
For Spring arm lift patients who've undergone massive weight loss, such as those who have had either gastric bypass or gastric banding, the procedure is combined with a breast lift, which extends into the armpit area and lateral aspect of the back.
What Does Recovery Entail After an Arm Lift?
You will see some immediate results after an arm lift in Spring, but the full effects won't be noticeable until all the swelling has dissipated, usually within a few months. For your first few weeks after surgery, you will be expected to wear a compression garment. It is common to feel some tightness, bruising and tenderness in the treated area. Most Spring arm lift patients can go back to work in about two weeks.
The surgical team at Advanced Plastic Surgery Centre will keep a close eye on you during your brachioplasty recovery. You will have a series of follow-up visits to check bandages and sutures and make sure you are healing properly. We take our commitment to our patients seriously, from the beginning of the process to your final recovery steps.
