Liposuction in The Woodlands, TX
Dr. Joseph M. Perlman offers liposuction to the residents of The Woodlands, TX.
What is liposuction?
Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries performed. It is also known as lipoplasty, liposculpture suction lipectomy, or simply lipo. During lipo, plastic surgeons break up and/or suck fat from various body areas. These areas include the calves, thighs, buttocks, arms, abdomen, neck, and chin.
How is liposuction performed?
Usually during a liposuction procedure, a problem area of the body is targeted. This is an area considered resistant to diet and exercise. The doctor inserts a thin, hollow tube, called a cannula, into the body. Then a high-pressure vacuum is attached to the tube, and the surgeon proceeds to break up and/or suck out the fat. Since fat is being eliminated, the body region on which the surgery is performed will most likely become somewhat slimmer.
Since it’s one of the most popular plastic surgeries, Dr. Joseph M. Perlman and his staff have performed liposuction hundreds of times. In his practice, Dr. Perlman uses two types of liposuction procedures. One procedure uses a laser on the patient’s top layer of skin to liquefy the fatty deposits. The other procedure, considered minimally invasive, selectively breaks up the fat and removes it.
